This guide is aimed at staff in ED to enable them to create a list of patients in ED clinics

Step

Tips/Notes

1

Note you only need to create your patient list once.  It will then be available for use when required.

2

Select the ‘Patient Lists’ tab

3

Click on the ‘New Visit List’ icon in the toolbar

4

A window is displayed containing several tabs showing different criteria

5

The ‘Visit Status’ tab is used to display patients with inpatient or outpatient attendances that meet certain criteria. The different statuses for clinic attendances are described in Step 11.

For ED Clinics:

  • Untick ‘List currently admitted/ registered patients’
  • Tick ‘List patients with the specified event on the date or date range’

Then choose ‘Admitted’ from the dropdown menu.  Now select the relevant clinic date, for example ‘Today’.

Important Note: ‘Use Actual Dates’ will only ever return patients for the given dates, whereas using the ‘Date Range’ is dynamic and will update every time the patient list is selected.

Important Note: ‘Admit Time’ shows the appointment time for patients who have not arrived in clinic. This will change to the time of arrival for patients who have been marked as arrived on PAS.

To add or remove columns, click on the ‘Select Visit List Column’ icon on the toolbar.  On the pop-up table, click on ‘Clinic Code’ from the left hand list, then select the ‘Add’ button to move it into the box on the right hand side.     Use ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ buttons to move your selection to your chosen position.  The same process can be used to remove columns using the ‘Remove’ button.  Click ‘OK’ to confirm.

14

To adjust the column width on your patient list, point your cursor to the right of the column header and a double arrow should appear. Click and drag the column left or right as appropriate.

15

To amend a patient list, ensure the appropriate list is displayed and click the ‘Modify Visit List’ button on the toolbar.  This will open the same pop-up window as before.  When the necessary changes have been made, you will be given the option to save the list with a new name (thus creating 2 lists) or to overwrite the existing list.

16

To delete a list, click on the ‘Delete Visit List’ icon on the toolbar.  A box will appear containing your patient lists.  Select the appropriate list and click ‘Delete’.   Click ‘OK’ to confirm.

Alternatively, with the correct patient list showing, click on the ‘Delete Current List’ icon on the toolbar
