Users are only able to access and see the folders they are permitted to access to ensure their files remain private and secure. However, sometimes it is easier for people to access their files from the ‘Quick Access’ bar in Explorer, or a shortcut created on the desktop.

 

For example, in the S: Drive for the IT department, there is a folder called ‘IT’, for example, which looks like this:

 

 

Inside the IT folder is a folder for ‘Infrastructure’. If I wanted to have quick access to this Infrastructure folder, I can make it appear in the Quick Access list or on the desktop as an ‘alias’.

 

To do this, simply right click the Infrastructure folder and select either ‘Pin to Quick Access’ or ‘Send to -> Desktop (create shortcut)’:
