This guide is for any Clinician who needs to review or discontinue allergies on the Patient’s record in Sunrise.
Please Note: |
- The Patient’s allergy status must be reviewed by clinical staff at every visit |
- Allergies can be added, discontinued and marked as reviewed | |
- Allergies will continue to be recorded in Nursing and Doctor’s paper notes and drug charts | |
- Allergies recorded in PAS will manually be moved across to Sunrise | |
- At go live allergy recording in PAS will be switched off - Departments using Sunrise will be expected to record allergies on Sunrise | |
- Allergies added manually at go live will need to be reviewed and detail added as appropriate |

With the patient in context and the Allergies/Intolerances Summary View pop-up open, you can see an overview of the allergies listed, if you need to see the full allergy details, double-click on the relevant allergy to view

Once you have reviewed the allergies, click on the ‘Mark as Reviewed’ button at the bottom of the screen
|

If you re-opened the ‘Allergies/Intolerances Summary View’ pop-up by clicking on the ‘Allergies Summary’ icon from the toolbar, you will see the date and time the allergies were reviewed

Discontinuing

With the patient in context and the Allergies/Intolerances Summary View pop-up open, click on the relevant allergy and then click on the ‘Discontinue’ button at the bottom of the screen

If the patient has No Known Drug Allergies and you are discontinuing another type of allergy, an ‘Information’ pop-up warning appears, read through and follow the instructions to continue the discontinued process, for this example click on ‘Add NKA’

The ‘Delete Allergy/Intolerance Reason’ pop-up box will appear, select your reason from the dropdown box, using the arrow at the end of the field, as this is a mandatory field and then click ‘Ok’

If the patient has Drug Allergies as well as Other types of Allergies, the ‘Confirm Discontinue’ pop-up will appear, confirm you wish to discontinue the selected allergy by clicking on the ‘Yes’ button or select ‘No’ if you wish to cancel the action

The ‘Discontinue Allergy/Intolerance Reason’ pop-up screen will appear, select a reason from the dropdown box, using the arrow at the end of the field, as this is a mandatory field Then click on the ‘Ok’ button to confirm

The discontinued allergy is now hidden and no longer displays in the Allergies/Intolerances Summary View pop-up
|

Note - The dropdown box field in the bottom left hand corner of the Summary View pop-up allows you to choose which type of view to see the allergies, for example you will be able to see the inactive as well as active allergies at the same time

If the allergy was discontinued in error, it can be reinstated by clicking on the relevant inactive allergy and clicking the ‘Reinstate’ button at the bottom of the screen

Note – Remember to click back onto the dropdown box in the left-hand corner, to show the Active Only allergies in the main pop up screen
