This guide is for Paediatric Nurse Specialists to show how to create a patient list for referrals received on Sunrise.
Step |
Tips/notes |
1 |
Note - you only need to create your patient list once. It will then be available for use when required.
2 |
To start, click on the ‘Patient List’ tab
3 |
Click on the ‘New Visit List’ icon from the toolbar and select ‘New Visit List’
4 |
The Client Selection Criteria screen will display, with 6 available tabs.
5 |
Note - there are many different scenarios that patient lists could apply to. There will be Quick Reference Guides (QRG) available online to show how to find exactly what you need. Don’t forget the inbuilt help is available by clicking the ‘Help’ button at the bottom right of the Client Selection Criteria screen
Clicking Help on each of the 6 tabs will show how the criteria work for that particular tab.
6 |
Select the ‘Orders’ tab
7 |
Tick the check box to activate the 2 filters below
8 |
Note - the filters work together, each specifying criteria from a different source. For this example, we will be creating a patient list for referrals received for the Paediatric Inpatient CNS.
9 |
Click on the ‘Add New’ button to create a new Order Selection Filter
10 |
Give your filter a name, for example, the name of the referral and add a description
11 |
On the Order Selection, click onto the ‘Order Item’ radio button
12 |
In the ‘Enter Order’ search field, type in the referral you are looking for
13 |
The referral will display in the Orders section, click on the referral and click the ‘Add’ button to move it to the right hand side
14 |
Note - that if the department receives more than one type of referral, you can add them all to the same patient list or you can create separate lists for each one.
15 |
Click ‘OK’ and you will return to the Client Selection Criteria screen
16 |
Although you have just created your filter, it isn’t automatically displayed, you will need to select the filter from the ‘Order Selection Filter’ dropdown box and select the one you created
17 |
Note - this will show all patients with the specified orders, no matter what the status of the order. The next step is to show the active referrals.
18 |
Click the ‘Add New’ button to create a new Order Status Filter
19 |
Give your filter a name, for example, ‘Active Diabetes CNS’ and add a description
20 |
From the list of statuses, select ‘Active’
21 |
Click ‘OK’ and you will return to the Client Selection Criteria screen
22 |
From the ‘Order Status Filter’ dropdown box, select the filter you have just created
23 |
Note - you can use your filters for more than one patient list. For example, if your team receives different referrals you could set up separate patient lists with each one using the same ‘active’ filter.
24 |
Select the ‘Location’ tab
25 |
Select ‘Include patients at selected locations only’
26 |
Click the ‘+’ icon to open the MTW NHS Trust folder. Click on the ‘+’ icon for the hospital site (Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells). Click on the ‘+’ icon for ‘Inpatients’ and from the list, select the Paeds Wards. Click on ‘Hedgehog Ward’ and then click on the ‘Add’ button to move it to the right hand side, to the selected locations column. Then from the list, click on ‘Woodlands Unit’ and click on the ‘Add’ button to move it to the selected locations column. Repeat the process for the other hospital for Paeds IP Ward, if it’s required on the same list.
27 |
Click ‘OK’ to create your patient list. Give the list a name and click ‘OK’ to return to the Patient List screen
28 |
All patients meeting the criteria, e.g. with an active referral to the Paeds IP Diabetes CNS, will be displayed
29 |
Note - if your patient list does not show the correct results, you can modify it by selecting the ‘Modify Visit List’ icon from the tab toolbar
30 |
If you wish to Add/Remove columns from the patient list, to make it more specific to what you need. Click onto the ‘Select Visit List Column’ icon from the tab toolbar
31 |
With the ‘Patient List Column Configuration’ window displayed, select the column heading from the ‘Displayed Columns’ section, that you wish to remove from the patient list and click on the ‘Remove’ button.
Repeat the process until you have removed all column headings that you do not require.
32 |
Select the column heading from the ‘Available Columns’ section, that you wish to add to your patient list and click on the ‘Add’ button
33 |
Use the ‘Move Up’ and ‘Move Down’ buttons, to the side of the ‘Displayed Columns’ section, to move the column heading into the correct position within the patient list
34 |
Repeat Steps 32 and 33, if you require to add more column headings to the patient list. Once you have finished, click on the ‘Ok’ button at the bottom of the window
35 |
To view the Referral on a patient’s record, select the patient you require from the list. Check the details in the patient banner to ensure the correct patient is displayed and click on the ‘Orders’ tab
36 |
With the Orders Summary displayed, under the referrals section, double click on the referral to view. Once you have reviewed all the information, close the referral and you will return to the orders tab.
37 |
Once you have dealt with the referral request and no longer wish the patient to show on the patient list, right click on the referral and choose ‘Complete’ from the menu options
38 |
The status of the Referral will display as ‘Completed’ with the current date and time as the stop date
39 |
Click on the ‘Patient List’ tab to return to the main screen to check the patient is no longer listed.
