This guide is for all users who request Radiology Imaging on Sunrise

With the patient selected and displayed in the Patient Banner, click the ‘Enter Order’ Icon from the main toolbar

 

Or the same icon to the left of the patient’s name on the Patient Banner

If the allergies have not been reviewed before placing a request, a prompt will appear on the screen

 

Check the allergy status for the patient. Add any allergies not displayed and mark all allergies as reviewed to continue (see separate Quick Reference Guides for Adding and Reviewing Allergies)

The Order Entry Worksheet is displayed. This is the starting point for creating your request

The ‘Requested By’ options will default to ‘Me’

If you click on ‘Other’ on the ‘Requested By’ options, there will be 3 options available

 

‘Me’ will add your name as the person ordering the tests

‘Current Providers’ will display a list of clinicians involved in the patients care. Select the one you require from the list displayed.

‘Other’ will allow you to freetext the name of the requestor. This can be used to add a request on behalf of someone who doesn’t appear on the list.

With ‘Start of Browse’ showing from the dropdown box, you can see the list of catalogues below

Click on the ‘+’ icon to expand the Radiology catalogue

Click each Modality to view the contents

Select the required examination and click on ‘Add’

The request form opens for the selected imaging.

Complete all the fields on the form. Mandatory fields contain

Note - the order form will contain the relevant questions for the imaging being requested. All forms contain the basic questions, and some will require additional information.

For example, pregnancy or diabetes, or patient safety questions if requesting an MRI.

 

Pop up warnings may be displayed when requesting an MRI:

Once the order form has been completed, click ‘OK’

The imaging request has been added to the bottom of the Order Entry Worksheet

You can add as many tests as you wish, in any combination of Pathology, Radiology and Referral Requests.

Note - Some fields will pull through from the first order form completed, but additional fields may be required where multiple requests are placed at the same time

At the bottom of the Order Entry Worksheet, note the ‘Hide Worksheet’ button

 

This button will hide the Order Entry Worksheet, enabling the user to check details in the patient record before continuing (e.g. checking the eGFR when requesting imaging with contrast)

To resume the request, click on the ‘Enter Order’ icon again to re-open the Order Entry Worksheet at the point it was left.

When all the orders and requests have been added to the Order Entry Worksheet, click ‘Submit Orders’

 

The request form will print in the Radiology department

Note – The status of the Radiology request will not update to show the various stages of the process. Within the Tracking Boards, the ‘Rad’ icon badge will not update as the request is processed, performed and reported

Note – Cancelling a Radiology imaging request in Sunrise will print a cancellation form in the Radiology Department.

When an order is placed in Outpatients or on the ward where the patient will be returning as an outpatient for a Radiology Request, the patient will be given a card with the required option ticked, here is an example:
