This guide is for ED staff who need to change the location and status of a patient on the ED Tracking Board on Sunrise

Important Notes:  

  • The ‘locations’ illustrated below are subject to change, however, the process for changing ‘location’ and ‘status’ remains the same
  • There is a different process for moving a patient to the ‘Plaster Room’.      Please see Steps 5 - 10

Ensure the relevant ‘ED Tracking Board’ is displayed

Select the correct patient from the ‘ED Tracking Board’

Double click on the patient’s ‘Location’ field and select the appropriate location from the dropdown list.    Then double click on the patient’s ‘Status’ field and select the relevant status from the dropdown.

When moving a patient to the Plaster Room, it is important to track this on Sunrise for the coding to be correct.   See Steps 6 - 10

On the ED Tracking Board, click on the patient’s ‘Location’ field and select ‘Plaster Room’ from the dropdown list.  Change the ‘Status’ to show ‘Treatment in progress’

Note:  The ‘ED Clinical Documentation’ must be completed to record the patient’s treatment.     

 

With the patient highlighted on the ED tracking board, right click on the relevant row and select ‘Quick Launch Documents’ from the first dropdown list and then choose ‘ED Clinical Documentation’ from the next window. 

 

  

 

 

     

 

 

 

Alternatively, click on the arrow on the ‘Quick Launch Doc(s)’ button on the bottom left hand side of the screen and select ‘ED Clinical Documentation’ from the window.

The ‘ED Clinical Documentation’ will now open. Using the scroll bar arrows on the right of the screen, scroll down to the section ‘Clinical Notes’ and enter the comment ‘Patient plastered’ plus any additional information regarding the application.  

Important Note:  The clinician’s Name/ Job Title/ Date/ Time will update automatically from the Sunrise logon details.

When you have finished entering the relevant information in the ‘Clinical Notes’ section, tick the ‘Incomplete’ button on the bottom left hand side of the screen.      Then left click on the ‘Save’ button on the right of the screen.

The screen will return to the ED Tracking Board.   Important Note:  The patient’s ‘Location’ and ‘Status’ should be updated accordingly when returned from the ‘Plaster Room’.
