This guide is for Phlebotomists to enable them to find a list of patients requiring bleeding.
Step |
Tips / Notes |
1 |
Ensure the ‘Patient List’ tab is displayed
|
2 |
As you enter each ward, use the ‘Current List’ dropdown to select the appropriate location e.g. Ward 10 – Bloods
|
3 |
The list will display all patients in that location who have at least one blood test that is due for collection. You will continue to have order forms in the tray for non Biochemistry and Haematology bloods, but all patients will appear on the list, regardless of the type of order.
If you require the patients listed in bed order and the list is not already showing this, you can move the ‘Current Location’ column to the far left. Click on the grey column header, hold and drag to the required position. The black arrows indicate the new location. Drop the column into the new position and it will remain in that location.
If the list is still not showing in the correct order, click once on the ‘Current Location’ column heading to sort into that order, then click the ‘Save Sort Order’ icon on the toolbar to remember the order. |
4 |
Select a patient in the list
|
5 |
Check the correct patient is displayed in the blue patient banner across the top of the screen
|
6 |
To move quickly between patients on the list, use the ‘Previous Patient’ and ‘Next Patient’ arrows in the toolbar on the top left of the screen. These arrows can be used from any tab once the first patient has been selected
|
7 |
Patients requiring bleeding will be displayed 24 hours before the test is due for collection. Once all bloods ‘pending collection’ have been collected, the patient will no longer be displayed on the list.
If for any reason you need to go back into a patient’s record once they have dropped off your patient list, for example to reprint labels, you can access them quickly from the ward tracking board.
