Click on the ‘Find Patient’ icon in the Toolbar

Enter the patient’s name in the ‘Last name’ and ‘First name’ boxes along with any other search criteria, or input the surname in the ‘Quick ID’ box. Alternatively, using the dropdown ‘ID Type’ box select the appropriate patient ID (e.g. CRN or NHS Number), then type the correct number in the ‘ID’ box and click ‘Search’ 

  Tip: To expand or reduce the search results, use the tick boxes in the ‘Search Options’ panel

Double click on the correct Patient from the returned list or select the Patient and click ‘Show Visits’

Select the appropriate ‘Visit’ (e.g. an ED/A&E attendance, inpatient stay or outpatient appointment). There may be multiple visits shown. Select the correct ‘Visit’ and then left click ‘OK’

With the patient details in context, please ensure the correct patient is displayed in the blue Patient Banner

The tabs below the toolbar will contain the patient’s record, for instance Orders, Results and Documents

Important Note:  Please be aware of the outcomes when searching for a patient from the following views:

Tracking Board view

If you are in the ‘Tracking Board’ view, the ‘searched’ patient will load in the blue patient banner but the Tracking Board department will not automatically change to show the patient’s location (as seen in the patient banner).   You will therefore need to change the ‘Department’ on the Tracking Board tab to match the patient’s ‘Location’.  

Patient List view

If the ‘Patient List’ tab is displayed before searching, the patient will load in the patient banner and the ‘Current List’ will change to display a ‘Temporary List’.

Patient’s Record Tab View (i.e. Orders/Flowsheets/Documents/Results)

If you are in any of the patient record tabs and then search for a patient, the patient will load in the patient banner and the same tab will then display the ‘searched’ patient’s details.
