This guide is for Infection Control Nurses, showing how to add the Infection Control Alerts for new patients within Sunrise as well as outlining the existing patients from Allscripts PAS.
Step |
Tips/notes |
1 |
To start, select the patient you require
|
2 |
With the patient selected and displayed in the patient banner, click on the ‘Patient Info’ tab
|
3 |
From the ‘Data Entry’ list on the bottom left of the screen, select ‘Significant Event’
|
4 |
The Significant Event (Adding New) window will appear
|
5 |
Select Infection Control from the ‘Type’ dropdown
|
6 |
Select the ‘Event’ from the dropdown box
|
7 |
Add some details into the ‘Description’ box
|
8 |
Enter the date as required, either the full date or just the month and year
|
9 |
Once completed, click ‘OK’ at the bottom of the window
|
10 |
Note - if you have more than one ‘Significant Event’ to add for this patient, rather than clicking OK then clicking on Significant Event again to get the same window, you can click the ‘Apply’ button once you have finished entering your information and you can start the next one.
|
11 |
Note - once the Significant Event has been created in Sunrise, the information will send to PAS, where it is displayed as a clinical alert (read only).
|
12 |
To view the Significant Event you have just entered, from the ‘Summary Views’ list on the left at the top of the screen, select ‘Significant Events’
|
13 |
The data will display in the main screen
Double click on the item to open the form again, from where it can be discontinued if required |
14 |
Note - the significant event added will now populate into the Patient Banner. This can be seen by a yellow ‘Alerts’ triangle, in the top right-hand corner of the patient banner
|
15 |
Hover over the yellow ‘Alerts’ triangle and the details will display in a separate pop up window
|
16 |
In addition, click on the chevrons on the top right-hand corner at the bottom of the patient banner
|
17 |
The Infection Control will be displayed
|
18 |
Note - the Infection Control Alerts for existing patients that have been migrated from Allscripts PAS, will pull across as a comment on the Patient Info tab. No action is required unless patient status needs updating which can be done within Sunrise.
