This guide is aimed at showing you how to create a patient list for referrals received in your department on Sunrise

Step

Tips/notes

1

Note - you only need to create your patient list once.     It will then be available for use when required.

2

To start, click on the ‘Patient List’ tab

3

Click on the ‘New Visit List’ icon from the toolbar

4

The Client Selection Criteria screen will display, with 6 available tabs.

5

Note - there are many different scenarios that patient lists could apply to.  There will be Quick Reference Guides (QRG) available online to show how to find exactly what you need.

Don’t forget the inbuilt help is available by clicking the ‘Help’ button at the bottom right of the ‘Client Selection Criteria’ screen

Clicking Help on each of the 6 tabs will show how the criteria work for that particular tab.

6

Select the ‘Orders’ tab

7

Tick the check box to activate the 2 filters below

8

Note - the filters work together, each specifying criteria from a different source

9

Click on the ‘Add New’ button to create a new Order Selection Filter

10

Give your filter a name, for example, the name of the referral and add a description

11

Click the ‘+’ icon to open the Other disciplines folder and locate the referral

12

Select the referral you require and click on the ‘Add’ button to move it to the right hand side

13

Note - that if department receives more than one type of referral, you can add them all to the same patient list or you can create separate lists for each one.

14

Click ‘OK’ and you will return to the Client Selection Criteria screen

15

Although you have just created your filter, it isn’t automatically displayed, you will need to select the filter from the ‘Order Selection Filter’ dropdown box and select the one you created

16

Note - this will show all patients with the specified orders, no matter what the status of the order.

The next step is to show the active requests

17

Click the ‘Add New’ button to create a new Order Status Filter

18

Give your filter a name, for example, ‘active referrals’ and add a description

19

From the list of statuses, select ‘Active’

20

Click ‘OK’ and you will return to the Client Selection Criteria screen

21

From the ‘Order Status Filter’ dropdown box, select the filter you have just created

22

Note - you can use your filters for more than one patient list.     For example, if your team receives 2 different referrals you could set up 2 separate patient lists with each one using the same ‘active’ filter.

23

Select the ‘Location’ tab

24

Select ‘Include patients at selected locations only’

25

Click the ‘+’ icon to open the MTW NHS Trust folder.

Click on the hospital site (Maidstone or Tunbridge Wells).

Select ‘Inpatient’ from the list and click the ‘Add’ button to move it to the right hand side. This will display patients from any ward at the selected site.

26

Click ‘OK’ to create your patient list, give the list a name and click ‘OK’ and you will return to the main screen

27

All patients meeting the criteria for example having an active referral request, will be displayed

28

Note if your patient list does not show the correct results, you can modify it by selecting the ‘Modify Visit List’ icon from the toolbar

29

Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

Be aware if you choose both ‘Active’ and ‘Complete’ statuses on the same filter, it will show all the SALT requests on the same list.

There are 2 options –

If both statuses are on the same list, the user will need to modify the list and change the order status filter, to switch between the statuses

Or the most easiest to manage going forward, will be to create 2 separate patient lists – ‘SALT Active’ and ‘SALT Complete’.  The same Order Selection Filter can be used for both, just different Order Status Filter.
