This guide is to show all users how to view a patient’s clinical observation information in a graphical perspective within the Clinical Summary tab in Sunrise

Note – The graphical information displayed within the tab is based on numeric values recorded within the NEWS2/PEWS parameter in the Clinical Observations Flowsheet for the patient, such as Temperature, Blood Pressure, Respiratory Rate and Heart Rate.

From the Ward Tracking Board, with the patient selected and displayed in the patient banner, click on the ‘Clinical Summary’ tab

Once the tab loads up, the view dropdown box is set to NEWS2 by default for adult locations and the duration is defaulted to 72 hours.
The view dropdown box is set to PEWS by default for paediatric locations and the duration is defaulted to 24 hours.
Note – the duration dropdown box can be changed by clicking on the arrow at the end of the field and select the desired option required from the list.

Adult Locations The information presented is in a graphical perspective with each value displayed on the plotted area. The top graph shows Temperature, whilst the graph for Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Respiratory Rate is combined underneath. Scroll down the screen to see more data.

Paediatric Locations The graph plotted for Temperature, Cap Refill and PEWS Total is above whilst the graph for Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Respiratory Rate is combined below. Plotted values can be identified by the legend icons displayed. Scroll down to see more data.

Note - If there isn’t any information available for the duration selected, there will be no data entries within the graph area
