Recovering from a PC Crash or Faulting Applications
What is a PC Crash ?
If applications freeze, behaves in an unusual way (note down any error messages) or the PC becomes unresponsive; these are indicators that the PC may have crashed.
Before you call the service desk (there may be a queue), it is advisable to restart (reboot) or shut down and restart the PC yourself.
Should the problem(s) continue after the restart, inform the Service Desk, passing on any error messages that were displayed, on 01892 635999 or #105 or use the service desk’s self-help portal.
Please try to save any work that is open, although, it may not be possible to save it if the application has frozen or crashed. In these circumstances, any open work may be lost.
However, it may be possible to restore lost data from an overnight backup, please call the Service Desk to initiate this.
